Pumpkin Carving: 2018 Edition

October 30, 2018
Alicia, Emmett, and Elle are carving pumpkins
Emmett's Pumpkin blueprint
This kid loves eyes on pumpkins. Or maybe he just loves drawing circles. Either way, all his pumpkins had a lot of eyes to cut out. I love it so much. His creativity is great.

Temporary Tats

October 27, 2018

This afternoon was a quiet one. I was taking a shot break in bad, half asleep. Alicia had just finished feeding the kids and was getting ready for the day. When she came into the bedroom I inquired about the kids. She said it’s quiet so Emmett probably found the TV remotes and put on a show.

Well. She was wrong. Emmett had found the craft box with markers and scissors. He was making Elle look cool by drawing on her arms (including writing her name on her forearm) and giving her a haircut. The joys of creative children!

Elle folds her arms that are covered in marker scratches and looks at the camera for me.
I had Elle cross her ams in this pose to make sure she looked extra cool.

Pumpkin Hunting

October 21, 2018

Several years ago in the spring my sweet mom started planting a bunch of pumpkins in part of her garden. Over the summer they grow and eventually overtake a large bank of dirt. Not being one to be satisfied by just big smooth orange carving pumpkins, she planted several fun varieties with textures and bumps and colors. We’ve made sure to keep that going over the year. Today it was time to harvest.

Hunting for pumpkins is serious business. It takes a well-trained scout like Grandpa to find only the best.

Carving pumpkins are great, but there are way more out there to pick from!

Sometimes when you pick up a pumpkin, you run off with a worms house.

Sunday was a really beautiful fall day. Great weather, great colors. Snow on Mt. Timpanogos while trees change color in the valley.

Basket Baby

October 21, 2018

“Dad! I want some ice water! And the big iPad with a PAW Patrol train show!” Okay Elle, as you wish. I then took a 90 minute nap. When I woke up she was still there, and Emmett had joined her.

A little girls sits in a basket watching an iPad while her older brother sits next to her.
Elle discovered this basket today and immediately ordered me to fetch her some ice water and the big iPad.

Dr. Askew

October 21, 2018

At my recent trip to Dallas to attend EyeCon, after the final CE session on Sunday I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Dr. Askew, a sweet traveling Optometrist. We were talking to her about a personal website when I realized that she didn’t have an office for us to send a photographer to. So, I decided since she was looking fantastic already, I should just pull her aside right there in the conference hall and snap a few portraits for her that we can use in her website. This is just one of many great ones!

A beautiful Friday

October 19, 2018

After a week or so of butt-cold weather, fall came back and is doing a great job redeeming itself. We had a nice 70ยบ afternoon to play outside in. We (by we, I mean the kids) raced, played in the grass, and did some swinging.

Came out a bit blurry, but that face of happiness was too much to pass up.

Elle is very much at home in the swing, and I finally snagged a photo of just how happy she can be
