The Milky Way. Kind Of.

Last night I went to Tibble Fork up American Fork Canyon to try and take some pictures of the Milky Way. I got there a little before midnight and stayed until 2am. I’ve shot star trails before but tonight I really wanted to get one of those distinctive Milky Way photos where you’ve got the purples and the blues and it looks amazing. Well, I didn’t quite get that but I did get a LOT of stars. It’s incredible how many stars are out there.

Sidenote – Tibble Fork is curiously busy after midnight.

Playtime

These two are becoming quite the good little friends. They play well together. Elle loves to join in with Emmett and play cars, trucks, and LEGO with him. They’re also both great at playing alone!

Smile on Demand

Make eye contact with little Emily and she just lights right up and grins non-stop. Super cute! She’s coming up on 3 months old and growing up too quickly. Thankfully she’s still pretty small.

The best Gyoza I’ve ever eaten

Just a short walk from Kameido station in Tokya is a little unassuming Gyoza shop that served the best Gyoza I’ve ever eaten — some say it’s the best Gyoza shop in Tokyo. Kameido Gyoza Main Store. Usually there is a line of patrons waiting to get in, but we were lucky and managed to get in and get a seat right away.

There are only 2 things on the menu – Gyoza, and Beer. Shortly after sitting down you have a fresh plate of 5 Gyoza in front of you. As soon as you finish it, another plate of 5 is dropped in front of you. There is a 2 plate minimum, no maximum. Cost is ~$2.50/plate. There’s no loitering when you’re finished. And it’s freaking delicious. I crave this place all the time!

Group them by 5, and put them in. Pretty much every frying pan was going with Gyoza cooking at one stage or another.

Scoop ’em out, pass ’em out. Always hot, always fresh, and probably always gone within 5 minutes.

After returning from our Japan trip in 2017 I got to work pretty quickly culling and editing through my favorite photos from trip. Recently I’ve gone in and revisited all the photos and am adding some new ones to the collection. This is somewhere around Shibuya station.

I changed a setting on my camera, the “photometry” setting as it is called on a Fuji. I set it to Spot Metering and I am loving the results. Adds a lot more contrast to the photos. Big fan.

The time changed happened. There’s finally sunlight again before the kids go off to bed. And you know how much I love window light.

Elle felt like putting on a concert for a good 10 minutes. She was singing whatever came to mind. She just cracks me up.
You can bet she’s belting out the high notes.
